Great UP Canoe/Kayaks Trips
in the Marquette Area.

Enjoy a day on the river or lake with a canoe or kayak rental on one of our suggested trips as listed below:

Escanaba River
The best location to begin your float down the Escanaba is from the city park in Gwinn, Mi. The river meanders
nearly 30 miles south emptying into Lake Michigan at Escanaba.
It is a very easy river to float and very good fishing. Primarly Brown Trout, Rainbows, Brookies, Smallmouth
and Northern Pike. Beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way. There are some shallow spots depending on the
time of year. Good spots to camp along the way. Canoes and Kayaks. You can do half-day floats, all day, or
multiple day floats on this river. Uncle Ducky Outfitters can assist you with rentals, guide service, Drop Off and
Pick-Up and Planning Services.

Michigamme River
We recommend this river as a very good day or even weekend river. You can start from the Dam at the south end of
Lake Michigamme or at the Republic Sportsmans Club campground. Good fishing for Browns, Smallmouth,
Walleye, Northern Pike. Beautiful scenery and wildlife along the way. You can camp at the Republic Sportsmans
Club. Canoes or Kayaks. With some portaging you can actually travel as much as 60 miles as far as the
Michigamme Reservoir. Uncle Ducky Outfitters can assist with rentals, guide services, planning, drop-off and
pick-up if you choose.

Au Train River
A great 3-4 hour float that starts just downstream from Au Train Lake ( 40 minutes east of Marquette) and goes all
the way to Lake Superior. If you are short on time this is a great trip for you. Wildlife along the way. Canoes
or Kayaks. Uncle Ducky Outfitters can assist you with rentals, guide services, drop-off and pick-up services.

Craig Lake State Park (Map)
Craig Lake ( Map)

About as close to a Boundary Waters experience as you can get in this part of the country. This remote area in Baraga
County features 4 lakes that you can experience with short portages from Craig Lake. Crooked Lake, Teddy Lake,
and Claire Lake as well as Craig Lake offer some great fishing, wildlife viewing and solitude. Craig Lake is 309 acres
with several island and camping spots with fire pits and outhouses. Camp on your own island. There are 2 cabins also
available to rent from the Van Riper State Park but they are scheduled nearly a year in advance. Canoes and Kayaks only.
No motors and no live bait. Fishing for Muskie, Northern Pike, Walleye, Smallmouth, Perch. Moose, Deer, Loons,
Eagles, and lots of other critters. Wake up to a Loon’s Beautiful Call of the Wild. This is a great family wilderness
experience. Uncle Ducky Outfitters can assist with rentals, guide services, planning, drop-off and pick-up if you choose.

Greenwood Reservoir
This is a great fishing lake in either boats, canoes or kayaks. Located south west of Ishpeming in Marquette County, Greenwood Reservoir is a dammed up flowage of the Upper Western Branch of the Escanaba River. At 1073 acres it has
lots of coves, bays, points, and islands. Northern Pike, Walleye, Smallmouth, Largemouth, and Black Crappie abound.
As do other wildlife. It has some spots for camping.
Lots of flooded woods areas that hold the Crappies and Northern Pike. Look for the walleye in the river bed.
Great for either fishing or just paddling. Day trips or stay awhile. Uncle Ducky Outfitters can assist with rentals,
guide services, planning, drop-off and pick-up if you choose.
